Frequently Asked Questions
Is it free?
Yes. The core is free — browsing and replaying pro games, seeing their AI analysis, reviewing your own games, downloading SGFs, and scanning boards with the app. A subscription adds deeper analysis and a few extras (see the plans for details).
Do I need to install anything or have a powerful computer?
No. It all runs in your browser — analysis happens on our servers, not your machine. No GPU, no download, and no account needed to browse.
What AI does it use?
KataGo, the strongest open-source Go engine. The same engine analyzes the pro games, reviews your own games, and powers the play-vs-AI bots.
How accurate is the analysis?
KataGo is very strong and usually right, but its win-rate and score numbers are estimates from a search, not exact truth — especially in unsettled positions. Treat them as a strong second opinion, not gospel. (A real score is always a whole number; the decimals are KataGo's best guess.)
Can I review my own games?
Yes. Upload an SGF or sync from the servers you play on, and your games get the same analysis as the pro ones — win rate, mistakes, and variations you can explore.
Are my uploaded games private?
Yes. Your games are yours — they aren't public, and they're only visible to someone else if you choose to share a specific game with them.
Can I use Kifubara's analysis from KaTrain or Sabaki?
Yes. Point KaTrain or Sabaki at Kifubara's cloud KataGo and you get server-side analysis inside the desktop software you already use.
What's the Kifubara app?
A free iOS and Android app — today it's best known for turning a photo of a real board into a digital position, score, and SGF, and more of the website's features are finding their way into it.
I build a Go app. Can my players send their games here?
Yes, and it takes one request. Your app sends us the game record and gets back a link that opens the review in the player's browser, with analysis already running. There is no key to ask for and nothing to register. The integration guide has working examples; for anything else, write to us.
