Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Kifubara (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. The service
Kifubara is a web service for studying Go (Baduk / Weiqi) games. It indexes professional games from public sources, analyzes them with an AI Go engine (KataGo), and lets signed-in users upload their own games for private analysis. Paid plans add deeper analysis, additional move-quality categories, and integration with desktop clients (KaTrain, Sabaki) via a cloud engine.
2. Your account
An account is normally keyed to your email address. You sign in with a magic-link email, or with Google, Apple, LINE, Kakao or Discord — there is no password.
Some sign-in providers don't give us an email address at all (LINE and Kakao). Those accounts are keyed to the provider account instead, which means they can only be accessed by signing in with that same provider, and we can't send you a magic link.
You're responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure: anyone with access to a valid magic-link, or to the provider account you signed up with, can sign into your Kifubara account.
You may close your account at any time from /me/settings. On closure, your uploaded games, saved variations, favorites, and personal data are deleted from the live database within 24 hours. Backups on our offsite store age out within 30 days, at which point the data is fully gone. Anonymized aggregate statistics (e.g. "how many games were analyzed this week") may be retained indefinitely.
3. Uploaded content
You retain ownership of any SGF you upload. By uploading, you grant us the right to store, analyze, and display it to you (and to anyone you share it with — see privacy). We do not claim authorship and we do not sell your uploaded games.
Don't upload content you don't have the right to upload. Specifically, do not upload games where the result, commentary, or variations are part of a live commercial product (e.g. a paid AI analysis from a Go-book publisher).
4. Scraped professional games
Games attributed to professional players are aggregated from publicly available sources (national federation sites, tournament archives, public game databases). We present them for study and reference. If you represent a rights holder and would like a game removed, send the game URL via our contact form and we'll remove it within 7 days.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape the Service aggressively or bypass rate limits.
- Attempt to break authentication, privacy, or billing boundaries.
- Use the Service to host illegal content or harassment.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or our analysis outputs as a competing product.
6. Plans, pricing, and refunds
The Free plan is usable indefinitely. Paid plans (Study and Deep) are billed monthly or annually through our payments provider, LemonSqueezy, who acts as the merchant of record for your purchase and handles applicable sales tax / VAT.
14-day money-back guarantee. If you're unhappy with a paid plan within 14 days of your first purchase, reach us via the contact form and we'll refund you in full and downgrade your account to Free. No questions asked.
After 14 days, you can cancel at any time from /me/billing. The remainder of the period you've paid for is honored — you keep paid features until your renewal date, then drop to Free automatically. We don't refund partially-used months.
Prices and plan features can change. Existing subscribers keep the price they signed up at — only new signups see new prices. If features change in a way that materially reduces what you're paying for, we'll email you 30 days ahead so you can cancel before the change takes effect.
7. Beta features
Some features are labeled "beta" where they appear on the Service. Beta features are functional but less polished than the rest of the Service and may break, change, or be removed without notice. We try to avoid this and will refund you if a beta feature you paid extra for is meaningfully broken at the time of purchase.
8. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes to these terms, we'll email you at least 7 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
9. Disclaimer
The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind — express or implied — including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do our best to keep your data safe and the analysis correct, but we make no warranty of uptime, error-free operation, or that the AI analysis is suitable for any particular use (including professional preparation, tournament play, or instruction).
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total cumulative liability to you for any and all claims arising out of or relating to your use of the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100) or (b) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, or loss of business opportunity, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations on liability for consequential damages. In such cases, the limitations above apply to the fullest extent permitted by the applicable law.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, U.S.A., without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes arising out of or relating to these terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.
