Established in 2025 by Shinhan Bank and organized by the Maekyung Media Group and Korean Baduk Association, the Shinhan Bank World Kiseon Championship (棋仙 meaning "Go Immortal") debuted with the highest annual winner's prize in world Go at 400 million KRW (~$300,000), with 100 million KRW for the runner-up. The 32-player single-elimination bracket draws professionals from Korea (15), China (7), Japan (7), Taiwan (2), and other nations, with the final played as a best-of-three in Seoul. Time controls use a Fischer system of 30 minutes base with 20-second increments, making it the fastest major world championship. Park Junghwan won the inaugural edition, defeating Wang Xinghao 2-1.
