Kukgi
The Kukgi (국기, "National Game") was a Korean professional team league that predated the modern Korean Baduk League. The league format pitted teams of professionals against each other in a structured season, with the team dynamic adding a layer of strategy beyond individual play. The Kukgi helped establish the team competition format that would eventually be refined into the highly successful Korean Baduk League launched in 2004.
