Kuksu

The Kuksu, meaning "National Champion" or "Baduk Emperor," is the oldest professional Go title in South Korea, first held in 1956 under the sponsorship of the Donga Daily News. Cho Hun-hyun, often called the "God of Go" in Korea, won ten consecutive Kuksu titles during his dominant reign in the 1980s. The tournament also made history when Rui Naiwei, a Chinese-born female professional, won the championship, becoming the first woman ever to win a major professional Go title open to both men and women. The Kuksu has expanded internationally with the Kuksu Mountains International Baduk Championship.
