Agon Kiriyama Cup

The Agon Kiriyama Cup is a Japanese rapid Go tournament that originated in 1994 as the ACOM Cup before being renamed in 1999 under the sponsorship of Agon Shu, a Japanese Buddhist organization. Despite being outside Japan's "Big Seven" titles, it offers a winner's purse of 10 million yen. The defending champion does not receive a bye to the finals, making repeat victories especially difficult. Iyama Yuta made history by winning it at age 16, becoming the youngest player to capture a major Japanese Go title. The tournament also features an international dimension, with the Japanese champion facing the winner of China's counterpart, the Ahan Tongshan Cup.
