GS Caltex Cup

The GS Caltex Cup is a major Korean professional Go tournament founded in 1996, originally as the LG Refined Oil Cup before transitioning to GS Caltex sponsorship. Organized jointly by the Maeil Business Newspaper and the Korea Baduk Association, it is open to all Korean professionals who compete through a 16-player knockout preliminary, with finalists meeting in a best-of-five title match. The winner receives 70 million won and the runner-up 30 million won. The GS Caltex Cup is notable for maintaining steady corporate sponsorship across nearly three decades.
