Women's Kisei

The Women's Kisei, founded around 1998, is one of the three major women's Go titles in Japan, named after the prestigious Kisei ("Go Saint") title. It features a rapid format with 30 seconds per move and ten one-minute overtime periods, with the title match decided in a best-of-three series and a winner's purse of 5 million yen. The tournament has been dominated by Xie Yimin and Ueno Asami, the latter of whom has also competed successfully in open tournaments against male professionals. The Women's Kisei is the youngest of the three main women's titles but has quickly established itself as a key proving ground for Japan's top female players.
