The Korean Promotion Tournament is the Korea Baduk Association's official dan-ranking system for professionals, analogous to Japan's now-discontinued Oteai. Korean professionals advance through dan ranks based on their performance in this structured series of games, with increasingly stringent win-rate requirements at higher levels. The tournament is critical to the career trajectory of every Korean professional, as dan rank determines seedings and eligibility for invitational events across the domestic and international circuits.
