The SK New Stars Best Ten was a Korean invitational tournament sponsored by SK Group, one of South Korea's largest conglomerates. The tournament selected the ten most promising young professionals for a competitive showcase, serving as both a proving ground for emerging talent and a marketing vehicle for Korean Go's next generation. SK's sponsorship was part of the chaebol tradition of supporting Go as a cultural and intellectual pursuit.
