Known internationally as the MLily Cup (after its sponsor, the Chinese mattress manufacturer MLily), this biennial world championship was established in 2013 and features 64 players in a single-elimination format with best-of-three semifinals and a best-of-five final. The tournament quickly became known for crowning young champions: 17-year-old Mi Yuting won the inaugural edition, and 18-year-old Ke Jie captured the 2nd edition. MLily also famously sponsored the 2014 jubango (ten-game match) between Chinese star Gu Li and Korean legend Lee Sedol, one of modern Go's most celebrated rivalries.
