About this tournament

The Daiwa Cup (formally the Daiwa Securities Cup Net Go Open) was a Japanese professional Go tournament held from 2006 to 2013, sponsored by Daiwa Securities Group and run by the Nihon Ki-in. It was a pioneering online event: all games were played on the Nihon Ki-in's Yuugen no Ma internet server, with fast time controls suited to remote play. Largely run as an unofficial title across its first seven editions, it was elevated to official status for the eighth and final edition before sponsorship ended in 2013.
