About this tournament

Quzhou's world open, launched in 2022 on the back of the city's much older domestic Lanke Cup and named for the same legend -- the woodcutter whose axe handle rotted away while he watched two immortals play. At 1.8 million RMB for the champion it is among the richest titles in Go, and it has been decided by the two players who have defined the era: Gu Zihao took the first over Shin Jinseo in 2023, Shin returned the result in 2024, and Dang Yifei beat him 2-1 in 2025. Qualifying is genuinely open -- an integrated preliminary that fields women's and seniors' sections alongside the main draw -- and Korean coverage files it under the older name Nanga Cup.
