Korean Baduk League
The Korean Baduk League, founded in 2004, is South Korea's premier professional team Go competition modeled after professional sports leagues. Corporate-sponsored teams compete in a double round-robin regular season, selecting five players per round, adding a strategic team-management dimension absent from individual tournaments. The league has spawned a Women's Baduk League (2015), a Senior League (2016), and a Rookie League (2018), creating a comprehensive competitive structure unique in the Go world. The team format generates intense rivalries and dramatic late-season scenarios popular with Korean Go fans.
