GS Caltex Cup

The GS Caltex Cup is a major Korean professional Go tournament founded in 1996 and notable for its long, unbroken sponsorship chain: it began as the Tekron Cup (1996-1999), became the LG Refined Oil Cup with the 5th edition in 2000, and took its current name when GS Caltex assumed sponsorship for the 10th edition in 2005. Organized jointly by the Maeil Business Newspaper and the Korea Baduk Association, it is open to all Korean professionals who compete through a 16-player main bracket leading to a best-of-five final. The winner receives 70 million won and the runner-up 30 million won. Yoo Changhyuk took the inaugural title; Lee Changho went on to win it five times.
