Taewang

The Taewang (대왕전, "Great King") was one of Korea's major professional Go titles, its imposing name signaling supreme mastery. The title was contested through a league or knockout format producing a challenger for the defending champion. Active during the boom years of Korean professional Go, the Taewang attracted the country's strongest players and its champions read as a who's who of Korean Go history, including multiple world champions.
