Minister of Education Cup

Japan's premier school-team Go championship, sanctioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (文部科学省, Monbu-kagaku-shō). Held annually with separate elementary, middle, and high-school divisions, each run as team competitions. The tournament is a key pipeline into the insei apprentice-professional system — many future Nihon Ki-in professionals first gained national recognition here.
