Tong Yang Securities Cup
The Tong Yang Securities Cup was a Korean professional Go tournament sponsored by Tong Yang Securities (now Yuanta Securities Korea), one of the country's major brokerage firms. The financial sector's involvement in Go sponsorship mirrored similar patterns in Japan, where securities firms have long been major supporters. The tournament added to Korea's domestic circuit during a period when the country was rapidly overtaking Japan as the world's strongest Go nation.
