KBS Baduk King

The KBS Baduk King, broadcast by KBS (Korea's national public broadcaster), is South Korea's premier televised Go tournament, founded in 1980. As a television tournament, it uses rapid time controls producing fast and exciting games suited for broadcast audiences. The tournament achieved legendary status in 1989 when Lee Changho won it at age 13, becoming the youngest champion in Korean Go history. As one of the oldest continuously running Korean events and the country's answer to Japan's NHK Cup, the KBS Baduk King has been instrumental in popularizing professional Go with Korean television audiences.
