Cross-Strait Women's Invitational

A women's Go invitational bringing together leading female players from the mainland and Taiwan, held in Fuzhou alongside the Wu Qingyuan Cup world women's championship. The "cross-strait" (海峡两岸) framing uses Go as a bridge across the Taiwan Strait, a role the game has long played in cultural exchange between Chinese-speaking communities. Fuzhou, just across the water from Taiwan, is a natural host for an event that pairs serious competition with goodwill between the two sides.
